Quincy,
You could also try passing cd queries via Kelkoo.com

I have purchased quite a few from cd-wow over the last couple of years, don't recall having any quality issues, but then again I must admit that I have never compared any direct with a known "good" pressing.

I suspect that they source globally, most of the cd's I ordered arrived from Hong kong or Germany.

p.s. Any one else being told by their "significant others" not to buy any records/cd's till after christmas ?.....must leave that list of mine in a more prominant place :-)

Regards

CD Wow only really do the top40 albums. For anything else try www.play.com I am really impressed by this company, they seem to sell a wide range of stuff at good prices with free delivery. Very fast as well.

"Any one else being told by their "significant others" not to buy any records/cd's till after christmas ?"

Not had any problems with CD-WOW but the range is very limited.

I'd second the vote for Play.com good for R2 DVD's as well.

Slightly more expensive but with a much wider range try tesco, they claim to stock every currently available CD.

Mrs Seagull asked whether I was happy JUST getting CD's! (plus a few DVD's - Python and the first series of The Office and the Young Ones big grin)

p.s. The Henry Fool CD is currently holding up my order from Amazon frown

some of your suggestions have cost me too! (especially the PT News and various TW riders threads amongst others!)

We obviously share some dubious tastes in music (VdGG, Caravan, Hillage to name but three) and I'm currently filling up huge holes in my music collection so this will probably hurt me more than it hurts you in the long run big grin

Discs made across the pond virtually always, sound better than the EU equivalent to me and my local Hi-Fi buddies.

www.absound.ca is excellent and still good v.f.m.

www.cdnow.com is my favourite USA site.

I use them both, regularly. Received 2 full price new albums today from A&B at $40.00 (inc p&p) (£16 ish).

Word of warning: To ensure that you don't get stung for import duties and VAT, the value of the goods only, must not exceed £18.00 That normally means 2 discs per order, which is cost effective for postage charges.

Excellent service, I find. But they only really do Top 40 plus "The Best of Dave Brubeck".

Another vote for 101cd. They have a pretty impressive range as far as I can tell.

Them seemed cheaper then Tesco's just now, and have a good selection on imports as well.

Had quality problems with cdwow (U2) but then the I suspect that recording quality of that album is dire anyway!

CD universe is ok as well (US based) and CDnow is reasonable.

Still to discover a good site for classical music in the UK, Crochet is ok but expensive.

Try www.half.com. You will be dealing with individual sellers, but the price is generally right, and you can compare the different prices offered by different sellers.

Thanks for the clarification. Fascinating site though, I'm sure you'd agree!
