No 5.1 from HD box??
Last night for no apparent reason I lost 5.1 sound from my HD box ,the sound is fed via an optical lead to an amp ,which on all other channels is o.k. apart from Sky Movie channels & of course any HD channel, calling $ky was a joke, they took me through all the usual routine of disconnecting form the mains & HDMI cable ,they kept insisting I was getting no 5.1 becuase of a faulty HDMI cable ,but I have tried the component cable with the same result ,anyone else had this problem ,of corouse the box is now out of warranty ,anyone any ideas ???........Jim

Have you checked the audio settings in the Sky box haven't been changed?

Just to clarify - you're using the digital optical connection into a surround sound processor/amp and the DD 5.1 is working OK except on Sky movies and HD? Bearing in mind not all programmes on these latter channels are encoded with DD, are you sure it's actually being transmitted?

Changing from HDMI to Component won't affect this problem. Can you try another optical digital input?

If it's definitely not the processor at fault, insist on a new Sky HD box, even if it's outside of the warranty. Threatening to cancel your subscription usually works wonders!
