Celebdaq

OK; I give in - what does it mean?

Something to do with 'celebrities', but what the bloody hell does 'daq' mean?

Young people eh? - buggering about with the Queen's English.

I'd have 'em all shot!

In "NASDAQ", the DAQ stands for Dealers Automated Quotations.

Not sure what celebdaq actually is though.

Its an online market trading game where you buy "shares" in celebrities and try to make money. The price is set by a combination of market activity and the amount of media coverage they get (i.e. roughly like profits and the like). So if you hear that, say, Madonna has been arrested for cocaine dealing you buy Madonna for $2 a share and when the story breaks you have a big profit.

There are lots of similar games that have been around longer -- including one for bands at http://www.popex.com/ -- although Celebdaq is the biggest with the BBC backing.
