?support band for Eric Bibb
Posted by: kevinrt on 02 December 2003
I saw Eric Bibb at The Swan Theatre, High Wycombe on 30.11.03. I arrived a couple of minutes late, so missed the introduction of the support act, who I enjoyed. Anyone know who they were? They said at one point that they had an album out and that they'd opened at Glastonbury this year.

Kevin,
Saw Eric myself this year and David Saw was supporting. It wasn't a band though just David and occassionally another chap both playing acoustics.
He did play at Glasonbury earlier this year.
Hope this helps.
Ps..Eric was brilliant again. Never get tired of see him live.

Well I've looked him up on Amazon and HMV and recognised some of the tracks listed so I think it must have been David Saw. Had more of a band with him this time (drums, bass, 2nd giutarist + backing vocals) but the best tracks were those he played solo. I'd definitely go see him again.
I should say that Eric Bibb was superb. The first time I've seen him and very impressed. Played a few numbers from Painting Signs, the only album I've got. I've tried listening to a few of the others in Borders but none of them quite catch my imagination the way Painting Signs did the first time I heard it ( this was following recommendations on this forum, so thanks very much to those of you who enthused about him).

Kevin,
"Painting Signs" is excellant. I would also strongly recommend "Home To Me". I also think the latest offering "Natural Light" is good, so any of the above really!
Most people rave on about "Spirit and the Blues" but personally I prefer the above.

For me, this years 'Natural Light' is his best yet.
