The Dan's tribute to Skunk?

Have any other Dan fans noticed how the guitar motif at the end of Negative Girl (on 2vN) sounds a lot like Jeff Baxter on the Doobie Brothers' I Cheat The Hangman? Don & Walt often seem to enjoy talking about "Skunk" in their interviews. Could it be a sly reference? An SD in-joke? A tribute, fergawdssake? Or am I losing the plot altogether?

Is 'I cheat the hangman' on The captain and me? I'm going to play this tonight to see if I agree. That little looping refrain on the run out of negative girl is one of best moments of a great album.

It's really funny to read up on what skunk is up to these days (also very scary). This man now is in a position of influence with regard to american military strategy! Difficult to associate that to the walrus moustached stoner on the inner sleeve of Pretzel logic.

Simon:

The song, all 6 minutes of it, is on Stampede.
