Enthused by seeing "Walk the Line" on DVD the other day, we have enjoyed our single cd "Best of" album by the Man in Black. I have ordered "Folsom Prison" and "San Quentin" expanded versions from Amazon.com ($9.98 the pair!). What other "must have" albums would you fine people recommend?

Hi Chris,
My Cash catalogue is similar to yours. I have "The Man in Black" compilation, The San Quentin and Folsom Prison albums and my personal favourites, the "American" recordings. There are 5 CD's in this series (American I - V) and I think they're great. The last one, American V, is quite painful at times as you can here Cash is near death. I find the sound quality of these 5 albums excellent too.

OK thanks for that chaps. Those are the sessions produced by Rick Rubin, are they not? Surpsised they aren't available as a box set.

For a broader Greatest Hits package there's a 4-CD Legend set, well worth having. I'd also echo the recommendations of the 5 American discs too.

Belated thanks Steve. I have ordered "Unearthed" and the two prison albums. Will digest those first then maybe look at the "Legend" set.
