I thought for a terrible moment it was Will Young.
It is reassuring that some stars are worried how their music is listened to.

Or how many times they can re-sell it - oops, cynic button disengaged.

Anyway Mr Y is on about download quality, or lack of - nothing new there. iTunes alone in that are they? Oops, there goes that cynic button again - of course, the other providers wouldn't register as a juicy headline.

Jeez, what is Neil Young on?

"We're in discussions right now about developing our own media platform based on that," he said. Something record companies can sell their artists' works on. Something that can't be downloaded, something that's got much more depth."

Oh yeah, right, and that's gonna be a winner isn't it? When the whole world is looking to download music onto a tupenny chip for the price of fresh air, he comes up with this business concept. I'm sure Apple are rushing to turn out the lights......

He could of course just take those DVD-A/SACD masters and make 24/96 downloads of all his work available on his website at an appropriate fee,
Now that would be something extra for the fans...

The 24-bit / 192 kHz stereo version of Harvest is pretty damn convincing on an NS01–can't wait to hear it on a production HDX.

24bit versions already sound convincing with appropriate DAC.

Neil who? Thesherrif is right who wants another platform/format?

Why try to improve a flawed process. Sound is analogue! Recording sound can only be truly accurate with an analogue recording and reproduction system.

Really if I wanted music reproduction at it's highest quality I would go to a concert or buy the record.

Interesting that the NS-series and the HDX can do 24/192.

Perhaps this article regarding a device called the Purcell is of interest to you all in this regard.

Elliott Mazer actually re-mastered the record at 24-192, no upsampling, just actual audio data. I believe he is now associated with Music Giants (met him the previous year in our room at CES.)

Indeed, not that I would waste time or money on Neil Young!

So let me get this straight, a man who thinks he has an alternative to iTunes says iTunes sucks.

Right.
