Should I be Worried

I’ve just been to see the optician and they have said I have early onset cataracts and I’m still in my 40s. His conclusion is that I have oil droplet nuclear sclerosis cataracts in both eyes, but much worse in the left. He said he expected the right to deteriorate to the same extent as the left fairly quickly as the cataract is very close to the focus path. The vision was 6/36 on the left and 6/9 on the right.
They suggested an operation in a couple of weeks.

Coming onto a hifi forum asking for medical advice on your eyes is plain bloody madness.
If you have any concerns, speak to a Doctor.
People here are unqualified and even an optician would say nothing without doing his own examination.

Mick is absolutely right. Why ask here?
That said, I know from my father's experience that cataracts can be easily and quickly removed these days. So just follow the advice and get the operations over - they don't operate on both eyes at once.

Mick - he is not really asking for advice he is really asking if any one else has had the condition so as to hear what happened to them - a perfectly natural reaction. He already has been diagnosed and being referred on to a specialist.

Hi Chris,
Sometimes the anticipation of an event can be worse than the reality. I had laser eye surgery 18 months ago and it wasn’t half as bad as my imagination would have me believe.
