Japanese Kind of Blue mastering question.

I have the 1997, single bit mapped, stock release which I use to test my tubes and speaker placement. In any case, I noticed that on the head of the second cut, Freddie Freeloader, Miles' seems a disembodied head, Philly Joe is louder and further forward than the bass and the piano is down in the mix. The other horns seem to blend well and the sound is realistic with visceral punch at times.

I'm wondering if the Japanese mastering balanced the placement and volume and if it smoothed out the punch. Anyone know?

I have the European Legacy remaster which I think sounds marvellous. In mine Miles is up top followed by the drums, then the piano then the dble bass in the mix.

I take it yours also has it's speed corrected?

Hello, ewemon. Yes, sounds like we have the same pressing. Hope you're enjoying things these days.
