What is your ONE favourite al*** of all time? (JUST ONE!!)
Posted by: Consciousmess on 07 November 2008
I know it is so tempting to say depends on my mood or its either 'this' or 'that', but as the thread question asks, what is your favourite album of all time?
Difficult for me but if I had to choose ONE, I'd say:
Pink Floyd: DSOTM
Regards,
Jon

Well I don't really know - depends on the mood. For years and years it was Bruce The River. Not sure if it still is but it is in with a good chance.

As much as I've tried I Just don't get this at all.....
Kind of Blue on the other hand qualifies as 'the one'......probably the best record in the world.
Probably.

Wow, so mood dependent.
Right now maybe The Clash-London Calling, tomorrow maybe Coltrane- A Love Supreme, Wednesday who knows. Tough to narrow it down to just one. Kind of Blue would be on my short list as well.

Incredibly difficult but after some thought I think I shall opt for:
Ready When You Are, J.B. - John Barry.
It doesn't include my favourite single track and not even many other favourites but it is such a perfect album. I bought the vinyl album in spring 72 and I still play the CD album regularly.

The Beatles- White Album

It used to be easy - London Calling, then it was Kathleen Ferrier singing arias from Bach and Händel. Now, I think it is Monk's Music in the original mono version. It took me a while to "get" Monk, but now I could not be without his music.
Monk's Music gets the nod over several other of his discs for the utterance, "Coltrane, Coltrane," as he introduces the saxophonist's solo. It never fails to bring a smile to my face, musical joy and exuberance and wonderful balsam for the soul.

Now that is a brilliant album - the best prog group in the world ever's best LP or should that be ELP? Deluxe edition - eh? I've only got the standard class edition - what am I missing? I have flexi-disk that the NME gave away in my college daze.
There behind the glass is a real blade of grass, be careful as pass you pass move along move along.
Emo's new album is now available and he's back to his brilliant best.

I've actually got it on the original vinyl, it's just the picture is of the De Luxe Edition.
I've got the flexy disc too.
I've just checked on Amazon the DL edition is 3 discs which seem to have the whole album about 5 times + a track called When The Apple Blossoms Bloom In The Windmills Of Your Mind I'll Be Your Valentine.

It is fab but I have to say I prefer Trilogy and I would be delighted to have an extended remaster. Till then its back to the black stuff of both of them.

This has got to be one of the best ever singer-songwriter albums and when I play it then I definitely think it is my favourite album of all time, but then I think that about lots of MCC albums - in fact This Shirt (not on Come On Come On BTW) is probably one of the very best songs I've ever heard.
Surely the best artist in American history IMHO, of course.

The deluxe of BSS is a triple album - just looked it up with 6 versions of Benny The Bouncer and When The Apple Blossoms Bloom In The Windmills Of Your Mind I'll Be Your Valentine - I'll put it on the shopping list.

The DL of BSS has SACD and 5.1 mixes and stuff that was on the flexy disc also.
Personally I could do without Benny the Bouncer, although the lyrics take it above some of the comedy "fillers" of some albums.
"Sidney grabbed a hatchet, buried it .... in bennys head.
The people gasped as he bled:
The end of a ted?
Well, they dragged him from the wreckage of the palais in bits.
They tried to stick together all the bits that would fit.
But some of him was missing
And part of him arrived too late,
So now he works for jesus
As the bouncer at st. peters gate".
