Rick Astley comes to iPhone without an invite (don't panic)

If you have an Apple iPhone then get ready for the first major worm to hit the handset. The virus, dubbed the ikee worm, breaks into iPhones and changes the users lock screen wallpaper to an image of 1980s pop star Rick Astley with the message ‘ikee is never going to give you up'.

I think the relevant line in the linked report might be... Users who have ‘jailbroken' their handset to allow them to install third-party applications have fallen victim to the infection.

So chalk this as 1 plus point to Mr Jobs who felt that all apps should come from a checked source - i.e. the App Store.

I don't have an iPhone (hardly ever use a mobile phone - waiting for the Amiga phone Cool ), but thought others may be interested. Steve Jobs is usually right about most things he does except the Newton and HyperCard and ... well apart from the things he's wrong about.

What OS does the iPhone run? Is it based on Mach and Darwin?

Do you mean Steve was wrong to drop the Newton (it's now an iPhone!) or wrong to start making the Newton in the first place (he didn't ... it was while he was playing with Pixar they developed the Newton). HyperCard ... well lets not mention that! Oh and Steve ... we DO want an Apple NetBook (if prices sensibly).

As for the OS on the iPhones - yes it's Darwin at it's core.
