Gapless play?

I've noticed that for some music, the HDX 'chops' the end of the tune, and then onto the next selection. For example, on the Cars Candy-O, several of the tracks run into each other, but when I play them back, there's a gap. Another example - Steve Miller - the Space Intro should run right into Fly Like An Eagle. Is there a way of ripping CDs so that on playback, I'll hear this continuity?

If a disc is properly authored then there should be nothing chopped from anything and tracks that merge together should still merge together correctly ... it's possible that there may be a quirk in the authoring of the disc so if you drop me an email at my work email address (phil.harris@naimnet.com) then if it's OK we'd appreciate borrowing one of those discs to take a look at.
