It was a piece played on classic fm last week, I'm sure they said 'Shmegel and Shmegel' (spelling incorrect so please take it phonetically)
Thank you
Thank you

If you can remember the hour and day I think you can check the classicFM website and all details of music played is listed.

Voltaire,
I would go through each day and search for you as this would be more fun than watching the world cup final on the goggle box (or live for that matter) but I have some paint drying to watch. Good luck with your search and let us know if you find it and what it was.
Cheers
Erik

I suspect the piece you are after is "Spiegel im Spiegel" written by Arvo Pärt, an Estonian. I can recommend an ECM album, with three different versions of it, together with the also excellent "Für Alina". Here is a shortcut http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000024HL1/026-47559...22?v=glance&n=229816. He has done loads of fantastic stuff. I hope that you enjoy this and go on to discover more.

Spiegel im Spiegel? Yes, now why didnt I think of that? Well I did not see it listed on Friday, Thursday or Wednesday of last week but I mat have missed it. It is also used as the soundtrack to a french film called 'The Officer's Ward' which I mentioned on another thread and highly recommend.

Ditto. I notice something different with each playing. Multi-layered. Multi-faceted. Subtle. Deep. Moving. A work of genius?

By the way, the title is translated into English as Mirror in the Mirror ... a very apt description of the music.

Hi, thanks to all in this thread, I now have some new music to listen to. I thought I'd check it out after seeing this piece mentioned here, what a beautiful piece of music. It's rare for me to find 'classical' music I get on with, but this is a gem, one to purchase.
