I've just finished listening to a rather old, crackley copy of Meddle. Life doesn't get much better Big Grin

Sorry, but I had to share it with someone Smile

And I was listening to a crackly copy of DSOTM this afternoon.

I also played side one of DSOTM for my dad today, this too was crackly, which is shame as it is my brand new played twice 180gm copy. Not happy with some of the EMI pressings at all! However it does sound bloody awesome, well my dad had never heard it so good, and he's been listening to it for over 30 years! And I've spelt crackly correctly this time, thanks Mark Smile

The music always shines through!

I've got quite a few crackly copies of Floyd LPs - all inherited from my dad - that weren't stored in the best conditions.

I must get them cleaned up some time.

I agree, though, it's not good if it's crackly when new.

Regards

I have just been listening to my "Easy Rider" LP, Circa 1967.
Steppenwolf - The Pusher
Jimi Hendrix - If six was nine
Smith - The Weight

Boy this is good. Crackly but really in the room.

regards
Geoff

Thanks Heath. I'm going to play Meddle tonight - good call.

Rasher, glad to be of service! It's strange isn't it? The surface noise which perhaps caused us to shift to CD all those years ago, now seems like a welcome friend, it kind of makes listening to music 'organic' Although getting a nice quiet pressing is also a good experience, and still real. My dad much preferred the sound of my humble vinyl spinner to CD, but there again he comes from the era of Garrads and Celestion Dittons!

I'm playing it right now. I used to be paranoid about scratches to the point that I would listen out for them. I can't say that I miss them much to be honest....oh here we go...liverpool crowd have just started. I think we're going to like having you around Heath.

"One of These Days - I'm gonna cut you into little pieces". What an opener!

Great stuff.

my copies of these albums are 30 years old and for their age are in damn good nick, rice crispies and all. I wouldn't buy a new copy.
