If you ever wonder if it is all worth it.

Chaps
Mrs Mick and I have just spent the last two weeks in Tenerife looking for some little shack to use as a winter retreat and if you think house hunting in the UK is a pain, don't even think of looking abroad. We have come back empty handed.
I am suffering from fatigue (old age is a terrible thing) and I have just spent the last hour playing a Yanni disc on the CDS3.
This was the first time I had played any music in over two weeks and I have been mesmerised at the sheer quality of the music that the system is playing. My flagging spirits are revived and I feel like a tiger let loose from a cage raring to go.
I sometimes wonder if all the hassle of hifi is worth the bother but when you hear the music, the doubts just fade away.
I am going to treat myself to an early whisky and a melody of Sarah Brightman.....thank God for the CDS3.
Keeping going chaps, the struggle is worth the effort.
Regards
Mick

Just think how much much more pleasure you'd get from your HiFi if you had taste.

Did you say Yanni?

Basil, Justin, thank you for saying exactly what even undiscovered tribes in the heart of Peruvian jungle were thinking but afraid of incurring a tongue lashing by the 'Guvnor'
Why spend 7000 slides on a CDS3 and subject it to that nonsense?
I play music on mine. It sounds much better.

I have been without my Naim for 5 weeks now!
I am expecting a whole new experience when I get to play it again next week.
This is worse than giving up smoking!

Only a quality system can truely handle the voice of Sarah Brightman. Sarah plus a CDS3 is a marriage made in Heaven.

Guys - must remember, one man's meat is another man's poison. We may all laugh (or even cry) at the thought of the brightman. Mick enjoys listening to her, and it's in the privacy of his own home!
Well said Mick, it's all about the music after all, and the music indeed does wonders to nourish the soul.

Shhhh - I used to actually OWN the first Bros album. A so-called mate got it for me for my birthday. In fact, my birthday SUCKED that year - my brother got me the Kylie album! I traded both tapes for something more listenable - some 13 year olds have taste!
Sarah Brightman though - she's got an almost IMPOSSIBLE voice to reproduce - all those sibilants - it's like Freddy Mercury on spinach. Wish I'd seen her in Phantom, back with Michael Crawford, like my mum did in 1989...

I am in the process of being pensioned off but a Supercap for the Garrard and a set of 300's is on the agenda once I have everything sorted out.

Thanks for the info.

Is it possible for Mr Parry to post without alluding to his vast wealth? It reminds me of that Harry Enfield charactor who 'unless he is very much mistaken, is much richer that yow'!

I am but a lowly public servant who is being threow out onto the scrap heap of life.
I shall probably be soon sitting in Swindons shopping centre with a scruffy old dog and a begging bowl grovelling for alms.
You can bung me a coin and whisper "I am considerabley more weathy than yow"

Christ Rico!
I thought I has seen you at Courtenay place Pharmacy on Monday.
Were you picking up your Prozac repeat?
And Bros?
Probably the worlds first (and worst, someone had to start this awful genre) true boy band.

Although I don't have quite Mick's system it is now all mine. (Final payment made yesterday, hooray)
I came home today feeling c**p, put on loud angry music to start, it suited the mood. I followed it with some much less agressive music, still loud and I really mellowed out. By the time my girlfriend arrived home I was in a position to be sociable.
GBP 3,000 - worth every penny

"I shall probably be soon sitting in Swindons shopping centre with a scruffy old dog and a begging bowl grovelling for alms."
Can I have that 20p back I gave you yesterday?
I speak as someone who may also soon be claiming my rightful social benefits once my lords & masters have decided what to do at my Head Office (Mick will know where I'm talking about). If anything it has spurred me on my upgrade path this year - 252, XPS2 and Flatcap/Stageline/headline - though still really can't convince myself that a CDS3 is viable - so that it'll all be in place when the year of leisure arrives.
And as per Joe P's thread I now own both an old LP12 and a brand new, but very inexpensive, P25. Not green. Lovely deck.
