Is it synesthesia to "see" music and sound, in one's mind, as colour, shape and movement? Or is it a common experience?

Interesting to read about you having synesthesia! I remember reading a very good book about it about two years ago, found it in our institute's library... I'll look up the title, if you're interested.
Did you know that apparently shostakovitch and kandinsky were synesthetes as well?
