'O'

Posted by: beak on 29 May 2005

I recently obtained a copy of Damien Rice's O album and love it. Now I keep hearing similar groups as sound tracks on TV mainly from the US
but the names of the artists are not shown.
does anybody out there know of similar bands?
Also female singers with a similar sound.

I'll bump this up the list, surely somebody else has a few suggestions?

Beak, what else do you currently like?

Hi all
Bruce I usually buy female vocals (not intentionally it just works out that way)
prior to recently upgrading my system to Naim most of my cds were a bit dated
such as Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac etc. Now I'd like to rejuvinate my cd collection to match.

I have just ordered a cd by Tom McRae and another by Rachael Yamagata (a soundtrack to E.R.)

Some old favorites:-

Stevie Nicks
Cranberries
James
Stereophonics
Beth Gibbons
Eva Cassidy
Garbage

Incidentally it drives my teenage daughter mad if I discover new cds before her!

Regards

Not a lot of overlap with my collection there. You could try Rilo Kiley:More Adventurous. Sort of sparky indie pop with female vocalist. Not totally dissimilar to James/Cranberries I'd say.
