topgear magazine (website) on new bentley's naim system

"And the stereo. The stereo is a thing of perfection unparalleled. UK audio heavy hitter Naim Audio has produced a 20-speaker, 2,200-watt system that defies belief. As well as being the most powerful set-up ever fitted to a production car, the system reproduces sound so beautifully that you find yourself hearing things on favourite tracks that you've never heard before. And it's not necessarily all about power; even at low volume levels, the mellowest of audiophiles can tell the difference. If you're serious, you might buy a Mulsanne just for that. "

I'm v happy with my super-rare RT, thanks. And integrating the VW control system into my RT would be challenging, to say the least!

Who said anything about *
replacing * the RT?

I'm happy with Isobariks in the back of my Renault Espace.
And the twelve old pennies sellotaped to the top of the arm keeps the needle in the groove over all but the worst of bumps.
Haven't a solution for roundabouts yet though.
Eight track, maybe??

I saw the ampifier at the factory last year - it is about the size of an NAPSC...

Music comes from the engine.

Closer to the size of a HiCap to be honest...
...but I did manage to convince one of my more suggestible friends that my NAPSC / HeadLine were a prototype micro pre/power combination.

Jon is your RT a Mulliner version?
Posted on: 06 July 2010 by jon h
Yes and no -- it doesnt have the horrible mulliner body kit, but it has the handling kit, big brakes, high output engine, 18" wheels etc.

One of the more memorable rides I experieneced was a full bore blast away from the lights in a Bentley Brooklands, piloted by one of the Bentley Boys. You were all too aware that here was an immensely heavy car with enormous torque being fed through only two tiny patches of rubber. The engine didn't exactly sing, rather it was like having a mildly muted howitzer barrage unleashed just inches away from you. It was remarkably fleet of foot for something so large and heavy. Amazing brakes too (Thank God!).

If there is a next time , I think we should listen to your cars as well?

I've just installed a new Naim stereo in my Fiat Panda....

Looks like the back window got a bit intimate with the corner of that box on the right.

Nero, does it sound a bit "boxy"?
Sorry, I'll get me coat...
Posted on: 07 July 2010 by gone
yeah, it sounds a bit 'shut in'.
@Phil - that's the Superline box, and that's what happens when you ship TNT! The SL is so heavy, the standard Naim box isn't really up to it.
Maybe I should start a new thread entitled "How to quintuple the value of your car"
Cheers

Ok OK where is the Fraim.
I also think you should organise the sequence of components a bit better.

I don't understand how a 2.2KWatt amp the size of a HiCap can dump the heat generated. Maybe it's some digital amplifier thing that doesn't get hot.
