Are they the same versions as on 'Complete Home Recordings' and 'Tanworth in Arden Sessions' that were available for download a few years back or are these higher quality studio versions?

Hopefully the latter as ther were some great songs on those bootlegs but sadly not matched by the recording.

S'ppose 8.99 you can't go wrong.

OK, I thought I had ordered all his work this month...
I think I will get this one at King Kong Records here in Leeuwarden Smile

I see it's 20 euro's at BOL...
The other three were 8 euro's a piece.

It is reviewed in this month's record collector who gave it 4 stars - it lost one because they are home recordings and Nick didn't really have a great home studio. His mum sings on a couple of tracks (according to RC).

The 28 tracks pre-date his first album and you on an engrossing journey back in time to the young Nick's dabbling with melody lines and embryonic lyrical ideas at home, surrounded by various family members: mother Molly for two lead vocals on Poor Mum and Try To Remember; an aunt and uncle add viola and piano to Nick's clarinet on a passage from Mozart's Keglestatt Trio.

Although a handful of these tracks were committed to a standard cassette recorder, Nick would generally hook up a reel-to-reel machine in various rooms in the house.

Some of these recordings have turned up on bootlegs, but without the necessary polish to allow Nick's strengths and original intention shine through

So don't expect a great lost studio epic, but some honest songs from this great lost talent.

I take it these were Five Leaves Left, Bryter Layter and Pink Moon. These are superb records - there are also two others that you may find of interest.

Made To Love Magic which has rare and unheard tracks compiled by his sister Gabrielle, engineer John Wood and fellow Cambridge student and string-arranger Robert Kirby.

The other is Time of No Reply which has 14 tracks and includes some of Nick's home recordings "Fly", "Mayfair", "Strange Meeting II" as well as alternative takes of "Man In A Shed" and "Thoughts Of Mary Jane". It has Nick's final recordings: "Rider On The Wheel", "Black Eyed Dog" and "Hanging On A Star".

You have the best three though - and they are truly great albums indeed. I find Pink Moon one of the most difficult albums to listen to - the words and music are sensational, but it is so intense and so moving and personal, especially if you have read about Nick's life.

I bought them recently along with about 50 others, so I have not listened to them all.
I listened to most of Five Leaves Left though and I think it's really great.

Like Ry Cooder and Paul Weller (which are all in a different league) I will get all his work.
