Naim Nait 5 - Quiet on CD input
Posted by: Adam G on 04 September 2002
Hi everyone...
Quick question...
I bought a Naim Nait 5 yesterday morning and am very happy with it. The only thing is, the cd player seems fairly quiet on the CD input... I tried running it through aux input 1, and its louder, like I would expect it to be as normal. My current kit consists of a pair of Castle Howard S3's, the Nait 5, and a Marantz CD6000 OSE, which I plan to upgrade within the next few months to (hopefully) a CDX.
To get a nice listening volume (but not so loud to have the people in the next room shouting) I need to have the volume a touch under halfway round. But on the aux input, only needs to be about a quarter to a third of the way round.
This didnt happen on my previous amp, this was a Marantz PM6010 OSE... In fact out of all inputs (Im running my TV, Computer, and Minidisc through the amp), the CD was the one I didnt need to turn up very high to get a good volume.
I wondered if anyone else has this problem? Is this normal?...
Anyway, thanks for reading... other than this little problem, Im very impressed with the Nait 5. Marvellous piece of kit.
