Raising Sand: Krauss & Plant

I bought the album a couple of months ago and thought it was OKish - and left it on the shelf.

Just dusted it off for a second listen - bloody hell, what a great recording and fantastic underpinning bass!!!!

The music isn't exactly up my street - but I just can't bring myself to take it off, think this might just turn into a very well liked album.

The XRCD sounds great, I think more money will be flowing in that direction - some wonderful old titles are to be had.

Huw,

agree with you the Living Stereo and the RCA Red Seal on XRCD sound fantastic.

Felt the same way - wasn't too impressed the first time around but love the record now.

"Towards the end of 1705 the twenty-year old Johann Sebastian Bach walked more than two hundred miles, from Arnstadt to Lubeck, in the hope of hearing Dietrich Buxtehude's 'Abendmusik' and learning one thing and another about his work."

All this talk about Fourplay ... I'm going to put on my personal favorite... I have all ten of there albums, IMO they all very good.

Fourplay - Fourplay (Debut Album)

The assemblage of pianist Bob James, guitarist Lee Ritenour, bassist Nathan East and drummer Harvey Mason makes for as impressive a modern jazz band lineup as you are likely to find. But it's not just good on paper; the artistic blend and level of material here makes Fourplay's self-titled debut a smooth-jazz touchstone.
