Haim & Florestan

I bought the 4 CD set some time ago. I had difficulty in getting into this at the time and it got shelved without any further playing. What a mistake to misjudge this so quickly. This morning listening to disc 3, especially the forgotten melodies shows just how wrong I was. This is beautiful music and Marc-André Hamelin really does make it come alive. Highly recommended for thos Marc-André Hamelin fans.

So nice outside, I think this afternoon will be outside in the sun Smile

Echo & The Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here. "Over The Wall" is probably my all time favourite Bunnymen song - I remember the first time I heard the live version on the "Shine So Hard" EP, just blew me away. Even as a 14/15 year old! Eek

"well my daddy worked the furnaces,
kept them hotter than hell,
I come home from 'Nam worked my way to scarfer,
a job that suit the devil as well.
taconite coke and limestone,
fed my children and made my pay,
Them smokestacks reachin' like the arms of God
into the beautiful sky of soot and clay.

Here in Youngstown
here in Youngstown
my sweet Jenny I'm sinkin' down
here darlin' in Youngstown"

I am on side 3 at the moment with the wonderful Stolen Car - how much atmosphere can you get in such a simple song. The guy is brilliant.

Elton John - Elton John. Some of his best songs (IMO) were on this early album. Two standouts for me are "I Need You To Turn To" and "The Greatest Discovery", wonderful Bernie Taupin lyrics throughout.

On vinyl.

On CD, 20 bit Sony remaster, sounds good.

Lontano, still looking for Dirt Farmer, local JB doesn't have it.

Figured it would be quicker to check Hornsby next time I'm down rather than order it here. Got yours there or in town?

Bazz - I saw it there the other day (I think) and in JB Chatswood as well. Let me know if you don't get it and I can pick up a copy for you next time I am in the city branch (sometime in the next few days) and send it up to you.

Oops sorry about that. Maybe Bazz will take it off your hands.

Closing the proceedings with some excellent night music - Charles Lloyd - Canto on ECM
