Listeninmg to it, for the third time, NOW, and it's definitively a repertoire CD in the best sense. Uri is the real star for me on this recording, because he shows one of my preferred of his MANY facettes: be a great team player, and use more of his heart than of his head... A bit too polished, some(few)times, but all in all a worthwhile purchase.
Thanks Geoff !quote:Originally posted by Geoff P:......So Adrian / Stefan I think I might have started the ball rolling on this onequote:Originally posted by sjust:

.....what do you think of it

Geoff,
This is my second Ambrosetti CD. I actually was not going to buy it as I found the last one OK but not brilliant. Anyway, I was in the local CD store yesterday and it was going cheap so worth a punt.
Quite like it - need another listen to form a proper verdict.
Cheers

Great album - his best I think - reminds me of old uni days. He is in Sydney this week and I have never seen him live before so looking forward to the show.

Not to be confused with the recent Pat Metheny release Day Trip, this new 40 minute EP brings together a number of live trio tracks recorded in Japan that were available previously only as downloads or as an extra track on the Japanese version of Day Trip. A good companion to the Day Trip album and I like the live feel of the tracks.

Just gave it a first listen and agree with you - thanks for doing the legwork today for me.

Anja Garbarek - daughter of the ECM sax player, Jan.
Produced by Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree fame, except for a couple of tracks produced by Mark Hollis of Talk, Talk fame, this is an interesting mix of electronics, vocals, atmosphere etc. A bit like a Stina Nordenstam album. Also appearing are Steve Jansen (Japan), Richard Barbieri (PT & Japan) and Robert Wyatt.

I've seen Joe live twice, once in about 1981 and once last year. Both times were fantastic. He clearly loves playing live and his lyrics come over much more powerfully when they are phrased on the night.
I have tickets to see him on the current tour in June here in Edinburgh, so I'll be interested to hear how you find the set he plays in Sydney.
Cheers
Ian - currently combating the neighbour's hedgetrimmer with this..
