I like it a lot - most issues of this world music label are very good.

I'm not really a sentimentalist about the Beatles. I grew up with their music, like a lot of people. I don't remember having any particular interest in the members solo projects. In 1980, when Lennon was killed, I was a into other music and couldn't have really cared. However, I first listened to this a few years ago and found myself very moved. No, she can't really sing but these songs reveal an artist who has something to say and can express emotions with simple words and phrases. I would take this record over all of Macca's solo effort ( and Harrison's too), Because this is a real person expressing real pain with poetic imagination, and maybe that is what 'rock n' roll is all about anyway.

"....When I started to sing I noticed my throat was all choked up and my voice was crackling. I seriously thought maybe I should quit making the album because, as some had advised me, "It was not the time"
But the question was, when would it be the time ? I thought of all those people in the world whose voices were choking and crackling for many reasons.. I could sing for them. I could call it "choke" or "crackle". Well, wasn't that what all the critics had been saying about me for all these years anyway ? That gave me a laugh, and it became easier."

Earlier,

Mozart: Haffner, Linzer, and Prague Symphonies, and had to post because I reverted to type and listened to the Surprise Symphony of Haydn! What joy!

Mozart: Klemperer/Philharmonia/EMI, Haydn: Concertgebeouw/Davis/Philips.

Haydn is so full of puckish good humour. Mozart is so dark even though on the surface is smoother.

Morton Feldman - Triadic Memories (1981).

Marilyn Nonken on the piano is perfect for this delicate long (93:48) work of sound study.

Larry!

Good Hoh! Just listened to The Surprise, 97, and the Clock myself. They rally are something. I don't know that many before the Paris set [82-87] though!

I used to have the London Symphonies in those performances [on Decca LPs], and very fine they are!

Well, I actually only have the regular cover version below but thought it would be cool to post the alternate cover above. Does anyone have the above cover?

In memory of watching Santana at the Empire Pool Wembley possibly the best gig I have ever seen.
