Level 42 - Retroglide
Mark
Is this the Mark King + three other guys Level 42 lineup?
Hi Graham,
This came out around the time of their last UK tour. We saw them at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, and they were fantastic. Mike Lindup was part of the band, not sure which of the other original members were present. I don't have the sleeve notes with me for this CD but I imagine it is at least Mark King/Mike Lindup & others. Hoping to see them at the RAH in October.
Mark
Is this worth getting? I really like their earlier (80s) stuff. Is this MK at his finest?
Cheers
Graham.

Graham - I would definitely say it's worth getting! It is not much of departure from their earlier stuff, although if anything perhaps Mark King's role takes on more prominence. It's one of those albums that took a few listens to really get into (aren't they often the best?), with a nice mix of the upbeat funkier sounds together with more simple ballads.

Whilst about my constitutional duty with the loofah, i soon realized this is not the best of musik for one to bubble-bath to, especially when the good people of the New Philharmonia Chorus are in the room next door bellowing out the Kyrie and Dies irae!
Good version though! : )

Daniel Humair - Triple Hip Trip
Drum, Bass and Vibraharp(!) trio recording from 1979.
Bought today in York from the record shop opposite Sound Organisation.
Still on track one, but it sounds absolutely terrific so far.
A must for all vibraharp(!) lovers.
Regards
Nigel

Miles Smiles,
Had Sketches of Spain on earlier, but inspired by all the Floyd stuff on TV last night, I decide to slip Meddle on. First time I have listened to it on the CDS3. Damn, this is a fine CD player. Does good tunes really well.
Regards

Bruford 'Rock Goes to College' DVD.
Surprisingly not very tight, despite the four great musicians (skipped the vocal tracks with Annette Peacock). Also no stage presence, especially Allan Holdsworth. Will stick to the CD 'One of a Kind'.
Nicnaim: 'In a Silent Way' is such a GREAT album. I should have put that on instead.

Oliver. Been there, done that. Glad we have passed the Wiggles stage. Yesterday my boys were singing along to the Springsteen Magic album in the car - the brain washing and musical education is working.
Now after three, Hot Potato, Hot Potato, Cold Spaghetti, Cold Spaghetti....enjoy
