Jack White turning into an American Steven Wilson (or vice versa)different but similar to their other projects.
This one seems to have a more melodic sense than White Stripes:-

Oliver,

The music is good (I still prefer the playings of Rostropovitch and Starker), but every time I pick up this disc I get annoyed by its pretentious title. Sounds like Yo Yo Ma is playing his own music and that he was just inspired by Bach...

Haim

Haim,

great point. Not sure if it was Yo-Yo Ma's ego or the mini series producers that put it this way.

Cheers ... Oliver

On their debut album (One Fing 'n' Anuvver) Gertcha was Wortcha.

Charles Hodges (piano, vocals, banjo, guitars) is a superb keyboard player up there with Keith Emerson, Francis Mokman, Thijs Van Leer and Hilda Woodward.

David Peacock (bass guitar, vocals, banjo, guitars) is a very fine bass player.

They both sing really well too - reference those counterpoint harmonies on Sideboard Song.

We shouldn't forget Mick Burt on the drums - sometimes his subtle quality is Hiseman-like.

I've always loved folk music and one form of it is those old costermonger's songs like Wot' Cher (Knock'd 'Em In the Old Kent Road) and My Old Dutch by Albert Chevalier and Charles Ingle. I also like George Formby's music - I prefer George junior to senior.

Charles and David are in that mould. Of course, young Chas, was in that phenomenal early 70s band Heads, Hands and Feet with maestro guitarist Albert Lee (now he was/is a great guitarist - the type of guy Hendrix, Green, Clapton and Marvin would respect).

But, Howard, if you need further evidence of the stature of Chaz 'n' Dave then I urge you to listen to that all time classic Snooker Loopy.

BTW did you know Eminem sampled Chas n Dave's I Got The on My Name Is. Though I confess to not being a fan of Eminen.

Tori Amos covered That's What I Like Mick (The Sandwich Song) and is known to be a big fan.

So you can keep the costa Brava,
I'm telling you mate, I'd rather
Have a day down Margate with all me family.
