Richard and Linda Thompson's "I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight".

Actually, I don't, I just want to tear myself away from my record player so that I can get a decent night's sleep ahead of my shift tomorrow.

I've heard a lot about this album throughout the years. Today I heard it for the first time.

"....This album is heavy. It's not party music. It really makes you think and feel about your place in the world. We have become such a plastic coated society. It is like we are numb to everything that is going on in the world. Oh, I see North Korea has a nuclear weapon that they want to test, ho-hum...pass the butter...WHAT? PARIS HILTON GOT ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING! OH, THE INHUMANITY! It's a weird world in which we live in. There are somedays I am just thrilled to the bone to be a part of such a lovely world and then there are other days when I just want to stick my head in the sand."

I hesitate to get this disc for the simple reason that the music of Marin Marais does not vary a lot from piece to piece.
After having seven excellent recordings of him on Harmonia Mundi, AliaVox, Glossa and MA I feel that I had my fill with Marais.

Anyway, this MA, "Tombeau pour Mr. de S.te Colombe" (and Hille Perl's) are my favorite ones:

Andrea De Carlo is such a cool looking
bass voil playing dude!
Hope he plays well, just gone and ordered the
Marin Marais "Tombeau pour Mr. de S.te Colombe"

It's actually more affordable for me to buy it
from MA Recordings in the U.S. than here in 'rip-off Britain...
thanks for the web-site info', Haim!

i look forward to it : )

Also check out the "Iron Man" movie soundtrack which features some great guitar work from Tom Morello - arguably the best/(most interesting?) guitarist in rock music today (with apologies to Mr Greenwood).
