Oh yeah. I like that one a lot. I saw her in concert (at the Hordern Pavilion!) many years ago, and apart from some incoherent ramblings between songs thought it one of the best shows I had (have) ever seen.

Winky - do you come down here often? The Hordern is quite a good venue.

I grew up in Newcastle (Oz - not UK) and lived around there most of my life. I don't get back there much these days, though.

~<>~ Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) ~<>~

[TAPE ONE] Piano Concerto No.2 in B flat major Opus 88

Emil Gilels ~ Piano
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Eugen Jochum ~ Conductor

Performance recorded in 1972
(Audio Cassette @ 1983) Phillips on PolyGram

[TAPE TWO] Violin concerto in D major, Opus 77

Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam
Bernard Haitink ~ conducting
Henryk Szeryng ~ violin

Performance recorded in 1974
(Audio cassette @ 1983) Deutsche Grammophon on PolyGram

Recently acquired with many other cassette tapes which really are almost given away these days… so an economical way to discover music.
I’ve never really been a Brahms fan, but these two tapes allow the music to be appreciated and I am nicely surprised to hear very good solo play and orchestral work. These two tapes came with two others that were once part of someone’s collection of:
‘The Great Composers and their Music’ by Marshall Cavendish

By now, I guess it would be fair for you to try and contact Chris and tell him directly of your appreciation, Haim.
Seriously - he is not a BIG name in Germany (and hence, internationally), so I believe he would value serious shoulder tapping.

Not joking, I like that disc very much, myself. (Funny: Get's played in the car, a lot...)

cheers
Stefan
