Howard,
What did you think of Think Tank now you've listened to the whole thing.
Time for a bit more, you now it's gotta be done. A brilliant Japanese issue, costs a bit though

Good to see so many Manilow fans on the forum - although I don't have any of his records I can understand the appeal. It was a shame he didn't become lead singer in Genesis when PG left, I'm not sure why it didn't happen given that all parties were so enthusiastic after the initial auditions. I think Steve Hackett's departure was directly related to Manilow not joining as he felt without a guiding light, song writer and leader the band might descend in to becoming a second rate cabaret act. His prophecy was, of course, correct, but it couldn't have been so different. Of course Manilow was also considered as a replacement for Peter Hammill in VDG and was set to replace Mercury in Queen, but none of this happened owing to contractual wrangling.
Meanwhile just put on some nice soothing bed time music

Have you heard Sinatra sings Manilow - it's quite rare, but worth seeking out - I think it has Jimmy Page on Guitar.

I found a recording I did not even know I had of Klemperer leading the Fifth Sympony in B Flat of Bruckner.
I have found this music can wear the welcome off the mat well before the end, but not in this glowing concert from the second of June nineteen sixty-eight. The VPO are on top form and recording conveys the performance without distraction of any sort.
I note this is one of the Vienna Philharmonic performences that Testamant has brought out in a six CD set, with Beethoven Brahms, Bach, Mozart, ... the list goes on, from the concerts Klemperer led there in 1968. On this showing Klemperer was still on top form, though it was his farewell to that unique musical organisation.
