Hi Munch,

It's a UK Virgin offering. Sounds OK, but will have a US copy soon. This one is borrowed.

notice Jimmy Giuffre's name on the cover of that first album - one of the great (mostly) unsung heroes of modern jazz, in my view - sadly no longer playing now, as he has Parkinson's Disease, but what a legacy. Anything by the Giuffre/Bley/Swallow trio is well worth hearing.
Nigel....I agree with all the above...just to be complete I wouldn't want to mislead. Pepper is playing songs written by those mentioned on the cover. They are not playing on the recording.
Jimmy Giuffre's contribution is his 'Four Brothers', a great chart.

regards
Geoff

Toumani Diabate - The Mande Variations

First "proper" listen (rather than background music) - now I know what all the fuss is about! Stunning.

Re-discovered -

Saw them touring the albums at Hammersmith Odeon in 1981, just days after passing my driving test.

Fantastic sound before they went all stadium.

Hi Jono,

I posted that one a few days ago, the first time I had played it for a while - it's still sounding good! I hadn't previously realised that I have the U.S. version which also includes "Blue Monday" and "The Beach"!
