Car music today.
Recorded live in 1998 on tour in Europe. Kept playing my two favorite tracks: 'A Dog's Life' & 'Musique Mecanique'.

Beethoven's Egmont Overture, and Fourth and Fifth Symphonies. Live 1957 recordings by the BBC in the Royal Pestival Hall of performances by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Otto Klemperer [Overture 13-11, Fourth 8-11, and Fifth 24-10], on Testament [CD] SBT 1407.
I am really left wondering after these if Beethoven has been better served on any recording left to posterity. Concepts like performance practice and interpretation, or even orchestral brilliance, are left so far behind that it seems simply like a connection with the spiritual world of Beethoven, something transcendental ...
There is nothing to say of these performances, except the observation that they should be listened to at least once by anyone who cares for this music. These performances conform to no preonception at all, either musical or technical. Quite the most extra-ordinary music making ...
