That is a good day of listening. I always find there is a delicate balance between over doing listening preparation for a concert and not doing enough. For the upcoming gig in October, I am going to starve myself a little in the run up as when I saw them in Sydney earlier in the year I overdosed before the show and did not enjoy it as much as I could have done as a result. Enjoyment levels were still high though and it was an outstanding show.

I shall probably ease off nearer the gig but PT discs are rarely from the top of my playlist.

Looking forward to the gig, not seen them since the Deadwing tour when I took my son to his first proper rock gig!

Ewen (ewemon) gets credit for bringing RH to my and others attention here in the music room. Though she is a local Portlander, I have not had the opportunity to see her - the guy playing stringed instruments accompanying her is most excellent, as well.

Wife is out again

Is she trying to tell you something? Winker

I bought Anais Mitchell the other week, kooky and fun. She is supporting Bon Iver at Sage, Gateshead, so two for the price of one or BOGOF as they say in the supermarkets, though I wouldn't be so rude.

Anything you got new that might float my boat?

My wife didn't care for my new Battles cd........................................

But i'm impressed by it on first listen, a bit lively for me but crackin. Cool

Followed by................

Jacaszek - Treny which would be excellent for a Funeral.............................

Tracks from this were used in the BBC documentary 'China' - I guess they were tracks used for the fun bits about the excellent human rights and general superb treatment of the workers in Bejing, or maybe not. Frown

Impressed with Ra Ra Riot after hearing them on all songs considered and listening to them on myspace

Still only got the first one Smile

You could always dance to 'The Battles' so you wouldn't have to sit down again Winker

Hawaii (OST - score album) by the late great Elmer Bernstein.

Perhaps a name not too well known away from the film music circles and most who do recognise his name (and not confuse him with Leonard Bernstein) will probably say The Magnificent Seven or The Great Escape. But in a career in film music lasting about 50 years he wrote much, much more.

Only problem is: I'm listening to the PC rip of this score as the TV/hi-fi is occupied. It would sound so much better on the CD5x/FC2x. Oh well ...
