Maybe not the best of reproductions (one needs to acclimatise to the crackly pre-war Victor US pressings) but the skill of Prokofiev shines though giving many thrilling demonstrations of very magical-quality performances on the piano : )

This one looks interesting, what do you think?
It's not bad but there are probably better albums out there with Bill Frisell on. I quite like his new one History/Mystery
I borrowed this from the library shortly after it was released, thought it had some interesting stuff on it but not cohesive enough to make me want to buy it. It didn't come together as a whole for me, but some interesting parts.
Amazing personnel, heavy Pacific NW connections. Chamberlain was in Pearl Jam, tours regularly with Tori Amos and is an A-list/first call musician. Martine is the producer, drummer, and significant other of Laura Veirs, both currently based out of Pdx. Frisell worked on Veirs early albums along with all his other ventures.

"The Comedian Harmonists was an internationally famous, all-male German close harmony ensemble (5 singers plus pianist) that operated between 1927 and 1934. They were one of the most successful 20th century musical groups in Europe before World War II and were noted for using their voices to imitate musical instruments. The Comedian Harmonists were founded in Berlin-Friedenau in the flat of Harry Frommermann (Stubenrauchstraße 47).
Today a commemorative plaque marks the spot."

My most played for pleasure Floyd Album ever.
Every one up to Animals was used everyday as a demo.
This is an underrated album IMHO and I think one of their best, if not the best. Currently on Sheep (I could listen to the end of this track forever, the fade out is so good) and looking forward now to my Sunday Roast later today. Might also take the dogs for a walk through Mr Gilmour's back garden. Bumped into him last time I did.

Glad I'm not the only one who loves Animals. I seem to see it getting knocked far too often.

It still rates as one of my most played and all time Faves.

Indeed it did take some stick. And in my view most unjustly so.

Its a great bit of film.
Not long enough though.

It as almost HD but very short in playing time.

I worked with his uncle and his cus .In 83.
He's a good guy - I met him in 83 at Uni when I attended interview with him for Uni mag. Bumped into him at Gatwick Airport a few years back and he was very happy to chat.

Another good Hackett album

Posted on: 13 September 2008 by kuma

Never heard of him before.
it's a rainy Saturday evening, so decided to clean this moldy record and give it a listen.
He's good and the record sounds excellent on top of it.
