Baroque violin sonatas with organ and harpsichord accompaniment - sounds potentially horrible, but it's a real delight. And yes, I am listening to it now.
Indeed it is. Mine arrived today and it is quite wonderful. Such is the power of the Music Room - I'd never have found this. Thanks.
Nigel
Glad (and relieved!) you like it Nigel - Haim mentioned that the same trio have recorded two more Biber CDs on ECM, which I intend to check out in time. For me, this illustrates the power of the record library - I would never have thought to listen to Biber had I not been able to borrow this CD for a measly 50p!
I've restored the picture of the album cover for Geoff P's benefit. Yes, it's "another gem from ECM" (shoulda been in advertising).
Regards
Nigel

Nigel,
Only one of the other discs is a Biber. The other one which is called 'Unarum Fidium" includes a Sonata by Johann Schmeltzer carrying the same name, a Chiacone by Antonio Bertali and another anonymous violin Sonata.

Haim

Nigel,
You could also look for this masterpiece in your library. One of my favorite recordings of Marc Andre Hamlin who plays this very difficult music like it was a child play.

A great Horse Racing/Gambling Love Song. One of the best of it's genre.
Chips Ahoy - Hold Steady!
she put 900 dollars
on the fifth horse
in the sixth race
i think his name was chips ahoy.

Another song 'Post to Wire' which has a Horse Racing reference as it's title. Beautifully heartbreaking. Hey and Willy Vlautin was on R5 book choice last week being interviewed about his latest novel

Love that album Steve. Have you ordered "Gold" in the SHM series?

Hi Chris,
No, I've gone for Quincy Jones' "Dude", the Hendrix comp, the Lizzy comp and Cream Gold. My wallet needs to recover.

I missed the SHM "Who's Next" but got the Steve Hoffman version for peanuts and that sounds better than my remaster of it.
