Live disc, not their best songs IMO. Tuneless noodlings for the most part didn't even finish it.

Just finished the Concert Overture "Cockaine" by Elgar in the 1933 HMV recording where the composer conducted the BBC SO in Abbey Road at one of his very last recording seesions.
The recording proves rather fine and entirely lucid, but the point is really his very direct driven view-point on the music. A powerful corrective to modern Elgar performance practice.
Edward van Beinum's wonderful Decca 1949/50 recording with the LPO rivals Elgar's in every way, but this is the only modern performance [ie.post 1945] which seems to completely avoid the grandiose pomposity so often inflicted on this music nowadays.
Perhaps the gramophone still has something to teach us!
ATB from George

Any thoughts to share on this, and I believe you have Lindsey's new one as well.

Jeff - I have read a couple of three star reviews for the Jackson Browne so i did not have very high expectations for it. However, first run through last night I thoroughly enjoyed and I thought it was excellent. It will definitely be getting a lot of airplay chez Lontano.
I need to play the Buckingham a bit more as first run through I was not listening properly so did not really form an opinion. In fact I'll give it a spin in a moment when I have finished with

A lot of bass I imagine. Any good?

Yes it is. I'm enjoying it in a freeform blended with melodies kinda way.
Bloody good musicianship.
Very HiFi too.

Lontano - is the Live Bona Cd good ? I like his stuff a lot but haven't heard this one. Is it new material or is he playing tracks from his other (excellent) albums? I imagine him being great live but never had the chance yet.
