Lontano - is the Live Bona Cd good ? I like his stuff a lot but haven't heard this one. Is it new material or is he playing tracks from his other (excellent) albums? I imagine him being great live but never had the chance yet.
Ian
Ian. It's a good album and I am sure would sound
great on the new 552 - congrats! Seems to be mainly tracks from his other albums. It does not however have the atmosphere of the time I saw him live in a tiny Cameroonian music club in New York. The club was so small that if you wanted to use the facilities you had to walk through the band, Richard Bona had to lift the fret board of the bass up for you to get by whilst playing. It does show you that he can reproduce live what he does in the studio and sometimes even better than.
This was recorded of all places in Budapest.
Cheers
Adrian

Thanks Adrian - just seen he's doing some shows in the UK in November, unfortunately none in Scotland - Hmm can I face driving down to Kendal (of all places) on a Friday night? Romantic w/e in the Lakes might fly with SWMBO ....

If the venue is good - good size, atmosphere and acoustics - then it will worth the trip IMHO. He is playing the Barbican in London - now that is totally the wrong place for something like this so I'll give it a miss....

2 great albums. Is the Boz Scaggs on vinyl or is it the remixed issued cd?
Posted on: 23 September 2008 by von zipper
Hi Ewemon,
Yep- I really enjoyed that double bill, instigated by the Duane Allman anthologies I just picked up on SHM CD- both are on vinyl although the Otis disc is a re-issue from a couple of years ago. The Boz Scaggs LP is a nice original copy apart from one of those really annoying punch holes through the sleeve -

Not Neil Young today (so far at least)!
But this is good:
and the vocalist almost sounds like NY..
