Jeff,
It really has been great weather lately and I have been enjoying every minute of it.
Did you have a chance to get the Haden/Barron disc?
Have a good Sunday,
Haim
I borrowed it from the library and enjoyed it very much except the one track that skipped. Have not had a chance to buy it yet.
When I left Ohio in 1977, my last vacation was a week in the Allegheny Mtns of Pennsylvania in October - the colors were surreal - beautiful time of the year in the midwest/east with all the broadleaf trees.
best regards

Spiritcatcher and Serpent Egg are the ones I am now missing. Glad to hear Spiritcatcher is good so will track them down.
I played the live album last night and thought it was excellent. Enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting.

The official live releases from the 2005 tour are also worth getting, They have new tracks, some are Lisa Gerrard solo tracks. The sound quality is excellent.
Most shows were released, a few are still left, as are some of the 'best of' the US tour sets.
The set list did not vary much at all, so getting a 'best of' is probably the best option.
I would really recommend them.

This one seems to polarize opinion from reviews I've seen but I find them as glorious as ever .

Messe Noire - a nice album of early 20th century piano music from ECM, featuring works by Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Scriabin.

Bach Brandenburg Number Four, Woldike with the Danish Radio Chamber orchestra from 1950.
Beethoven Egmont Overture and Fourth and the Fifth Symphony, Klemperer/ Philharmonia in 1957 from BBC recordings of broadcasts from the Beethoven Festival Concerts in the Royal Festival Hall.
All of this is music making that is special and a mile away from the routine thrust of daily music making.
Now to unwind I am listening to Brothers In Arms.
All in the new dispensation of using the Lavry D10 DAC, as yet with headphones rather than through the loudspeakers because I do not yet have the Cannon to DIN connection - Lavry to 72.
First impressions are more than just averagely favourable!
ATB from George

~<>~ Daniel Brel (b.1950~) ~<>~
Four Paths of Melancholy (Quatre chemins de mélancolie)
Daniel Brel bandoneon
Le Poème Harmonique
Kaori Uemura dessus de viole
Martin Bauer basse de viole
Sylvia Abramowicz basse de viole
Isabelle Saint Yves basse de viole
Vincent Dumestre theorbe & direction
A kind of ~ basse de viole’s get jazzed up by clever French Banoneonist! ; )
Performed in 2003. 61:47 minutes of beautifully constructed melancholy that captivates the listener with superb quality of play, and textural depth.
Need to be in the right mood for this but allowing this to infiltrate the relaxed mind is a fascinating experience! (imho)

Into The Blues, Joan Armatrading. Almost brillant. (apart from some credulous pious lyrics)

Music for solo viola da gamba ~
Susanne Heinrich
Viol by Bob Eyland (2003, after Collichon)
Bow by Roger Doe
Recording in St.Andrew's Church, Toddington, Gloucestershire on 24-26 October 2006
[DDD] Hyperion Records CD @ 2007 Total play duration 77:48
This has 'struck a chord' with my cat, Freya... who is presently singing along (albeit out of tune) in her best feline-soprano =^o^=
Perhaps the wrong time of day for a listen to this rather smooth layed-back relaxed viol.
Would be more approppriate to perform this late on an evening or early hours of a morn.
It is however very nice so i'll replay it again later... when puss is out hunting! : )
