Almost forgot how good this one sounds - the title track is name dropping a good part of the 'Who is Who' in Jazz. Cool

Never seen that one before MilesSmiles - is it good?

Played this earlier in the car. Enjoyable.

Inspired by Smiglass to get the Five Trios box set by Chick Corea. Now playing disc 1. For those interested it is available from HMV Japan. So far, very good.

Very good it is, an album from 1996. Had the above in my hand today at the record store - should I get it?

Taking an ECM break right now with the below:

Me too. This has some better tracks, although I like Vol 2. No 'Late for the Sky' on either though. Frown

~<>~ David Bowie ~<>~

Heroes EMI @1977
[Digitally remastered at Abbey Road Studios @1999]

1. Beauty And The Beast
2. Joe The Lion
3. "Heroes"
4. Sons Of The Silent Age
5. Black Out
6. V2 Schneider
7. Sense Of Doubt
8. Moss Garden
9. Neukoln
10. Secret Life Of Arabia

Used to own this album on vynil, back then, everyone i knew who also had this preferred side 1 but i always differed, and still say this album starts very good but just gets better as one progresses though the tracks.
Can't help feel the 24 Bit Digital Remastering has sterilised the music somewhat, but listerning to this CD is still an enjoyable experience.
A fine ablum indeed, and my first play for over 15 years.

Indeed I think the Bowie 1999 Abbey Road re-masters are particularly poor, whereas the original RCA cd versions are spot on to my ears.

currently listening to one of my 3 for £10 forays to Amazon (all the more reasonable with the Euro exchange rate at the moment)

great stuff

Great music is always great regardless of the medium used to experience it with. But I must admit that when heard on the piano, for me, it just naturally comes to life and opens up new worlds and possibilities. Murray Perahia is really just an exceptional player no matter what he touches.

Murray Perahia again with some of my all-time favorites: Bach / Busoni: Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 645, Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ, BWV 639, and the Schubert/Liszt, In der Ferne among others. I don't think enough credit is ever given to so many 19th century transcribers of great music such as Busoni, Liszt, Rachmaninov etc.
