MilesSmiles,

Have you compared this to the non-HDCD? I've been debating for the past year on replacing all my studio albums with the new versions.

Thanks.

Hi ROTF,

IMHO she knocks the spots off the girl with the floppy hat (oops - heresy!). I absolutely love this album, gets more play than anything else at the moment. I have checked out her live dates but unfortunately doesn't seem to be anything near me. She's FAB. And by the way, "thanks" to you for introducing her - I always note your posts as I like a lot of the same stuff.

Oliver, it's not released till the end of the month here either - I have a copy of an advance copy.

It sounds really impressive and like nothing else, and makes for uncomfortable listening - it's very dark and intense.

Not exactly relaxing then, like Dummy or Beth's Rustin Man album.

It's worth getting it just to hear it, and has some amazing sounds on it, and what sounds like ukelele (!) on Deep Water. But whether I'll be playing it in ten years time, who knows.

Anyhow, what I'm listening to right now, my favourite (sort of) Portishead album...

Joe Jackson - under-rated or what?

another one of my 3 for £10 Amazon purchases. Some wonderfully sounding stuff here, why can't they record drums like that still?
