I'm more of a traditionalist; I like to listen to side 1 first!

Eugen Jochum conducts Beethoven's Erioca in the second of his three cycles of the symphonies with the Concertgebouw (not nearly as satisfying as his later London account).

Dear Munch,
I'm afraid I have no idea what CD you're talking about.

New today - not grabbing me on first listen... but will give it time.

Oliver, it's not released till the end of the month here either - I have a copy of an advance copy.
It sounds really impressive and like nothing else, and makes for uncomfortable listening - it's very dark and intense.
Not exactly relaxing then, like Dummy or Beth's Rustin Man album.
It's worth getting it just to hear it, and has some amazing sounds on it, and what sounds like ukelele (!) on Deep Water. But whether I'll be playing it in ten years time, who knows.
Anyhow, what I'm listening to right now, my favourite (sort of) Portishead album...![]()
Chief Chirpa,
many thanks - will get the new one but the above is my favorite as well, might listen to it later today.
Greetings from down under ... Oliver

MilesSmiles,
Have you compared this to the non-HDCD? I've been debating for the past year on replacing all my studio albums with the new versions.
Thanks.
Patrick
Patrick,
I never got this album on regular CD so can't do a direct comparison. However, the sound quality is outstanding and better than my other Dead CDs - so I will go back and get all studio albums in HDCD.
Cheers ... Oliver

Oliver,
Thanks for that. Now where's my credit card?
