A little bit of Demis Roussos.
Please click here for some Demis at his most apocalyptic.
Remember hearing it at an impressionable age and thinking it should have been called 999, coz that's what I wanted to ring when I listened![]()
Not bad Diccus. Danny Domestos or Demis as he is more well known once gave me a bottle of Ouzo for helping sell his wonderful Phillips discs. Hated the stuff as well as his records but that didn't stop me drinking it.

This doesn't sound like Demis that you all know and love - try the link - this is a rock opera and sounds like Focus meets Floyd, of sorts, based on the Book of Revelation. Please note there is no 'S' on revelation as any HMHB fan knows.
The players on 666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18) are Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards), Demis Roussos (bass guitar and vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals) and Anargyros Koulouris (guitar).
This is a double album from 1972 and was Vangelis's project created with lyricist Costas Ferris. It's an adaptation of Biblical passages from the book of the same name, but was experimental in its lyrics and composition. It contains a piece where Irene Papas tries to chant a mantra while in the throes of hysteria. It's an impressive display of Vangelis' ability to combine psychedelia, ethnic instruments, choral chanting, recitations, synthesisers and keyboards. 666 earned Vangelis an offer from Jon Anderson to join Yes following the end of Rick Wakeman - it didn't happen because of work permits.
This is Demis, but not as we know him.

Handsome Family
Influenced by - Gentleman Jim Reeves, Hank Williams, Cole Porter, John Cage, Howe Gelb, noises in basements, John Coltrane, strangers at crossroads, abandoned graveyards, George Jones, stray dogs, hissing cats, Lithium Carbonate (1800mg daily), old men in windbreakers, old ladies in polyester turbans, the clenched fists of small children, Harry Smith and his ilk
Particularly like the reference to the Mood stabiliser
