After recent postings, listening to Toumani Diabate. Very beautiful. How come Mali produce so many wonderful musicians?

Not sure how I have missed out on this album all these years - this was released in 1989. The rather excellent new Lanois album - Here Is, What Is persuaded me to complete my Lanois collection. Very glad I bought this. Superb.

... just back from the listening session with Lontano. Great new listening room and set up
. Only downside was the long list of CDs I have to buy now.
Got this one today (part of my contribution to 'Record Store Day')

"Sentimental Streak" Catherine Russell. Wonderfully recorded female jazz vocalist.

I wasn't precise enough: The playa playz, but the receiva (i.e. myself) doesn't enjoy the Dowland Project as much as I do at home. With other music, this is not the case, or even the opposite.
That is another matter, Stefan. Al least you will not have to trade in the new car...
Some musics do not sound well in the car because of their nature (Morton Feldman for example) or because they are reproduced through too many speakers.
I disconnected long time ago the rear speakers in the Schmendrick. If someone rides in the back, he or she must enjoy the view since there is not too much music there.

You shouldn't be disappointed, a gorgeous seductive record

Haim,
I have yet to be disappointed with an Academy of St Martin in the Fields recording.
Each time I'm in London I make a point to visit the place right on Trafalgar Square.
Cheers ... Oliver

OK Stefan - I have finally listened to it. Overall it is pretty good but there were a couple of tracks that after a while got on my nerves - track 1 for instance. They eventually succumbed to the skip forward button. Some very good tracks though and better than some of his other recent efforts.

Oliver,
Agreed. I have a lot of their excellent recordings on Phillips LPs.

"The History of Fairport Convention" prompted by Diccus' reminder of the anniversary of Sandy Denny's untimely death 30 years ago.

Dvorak's symphonies 1&2 from Vaclav Neumann and the Czech Philharmonic.
Infinitely superior to the dull Andrew Davis recordings I complained about a little while back. Now if only Supraphon had made a bit of an effort not to split quite so many of them between discs.
regards, Tam
