Station To Station

Of course, it was originally a Nina Simone song, (but i'm sure you know that.)

Nymph,
Every Bowie album at least up to 'Lodger' chronologically is worthy of a "Greatest" tag.
Suggest you go and place an order for them ALL now as there is a serious gap in your musical library!! (in my humble opinion!)

Apologies, the full story is ...

"Wild Is the Wind" is a song written by Dimitri Tiompkin and Ned Washington. The track was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis for the 1957 film Wild Is the Wind. The song was very popular and was one of five songs nominated for an Academy Award; it was sung by Johnny Mathis at the March 1958 Oscar presentations. It was later covered by Nina Simone on the album Wild Is The Wind (1966). David Bowie recorded a version of it in 1976 for his album Station to Station. Bowie was an admirer of Simone’s style, and after meeting her in Los Angeles was inspired to record the song for his album."

Thanks for putting me straight, Gianluigi

Even Better than the Biber/Muffat disc. Definitely the discovery of the year for me.

Shame it won't show!! It's Biber: Unam Ceylum /Holloway · Assenbaum · Mortensen

Now... I'm not the biggest Garbarek fan under the sun, but this CD here gives me back trust in what he does. Or, has he changed to the better ? Who cares. Enjoyable pieces of music...

Jamie,

I have just put this onto my wish list at Amazon. The only album I have is Between the Lines, which I think is excellent too.

Are you looking for the music and the sound?
Are you looking for that "minchia!" something in a record?
This is that.

staple Singers - Soul folk in action

fantastic upbeat gospel/ soul - this was their best album for as far as I'm concerned.
