I'm not usually a fan of "cover" albums, but with her voice and musicians this is very good good album. It's strange how many bass players are hiding in my "new" 250.![]()
H,
Do you like anything else by her?

On first listen, for me, a little hit and miss compared to Voices/Rooms.
The one I am really enjoying so far is "Winter Marquee". Four others on loan to check out: One Fair Summer Evening, Flyer, Once In A Very Blue Moon, and Heart In Mind.
Enjoy the weekend, Patrick.

Hi Jeff,
I felt the same way on the first listen. I think it took a while to grow on me. As you mentioned, I think the first one is more consistent.
Enjoy your library selections! And have a good weekend too.

Huw,
As a Kathleen Ferrier man, you should listen to mezzo-soprano Hunt singing Bach's Cantatas and Handel (above). You will find a natural voice full of calmness and deep spirituality sounding as part of her self rather than something achieved through frequent rehearsals. She is exceptional.
Regards,
Haim

"Recapturing The Banjo" Otis Taylor, on Telarc. An absolutely wonderful album. The clue is in the title, but the banjo features heavily in this great mix of blues, ancient and modern. And a killer version of "Hey Joe" at track 7.
Playing with Otis are Guy Davis, Corey Harris, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Keb' Mo', Don Vappie and Otis' daughter Cassie on bass.
