Post Office

This year I have had not only regular mail go astray, but parcels too, both at work and at home. I have had clients who have not received work I've sent out either.
This is crap, and there appears to be very little that can be done as no-one seems interested. I think as soon as there is competition for regular mail the better. Thank goodness I can do my car tax on-line now and never have to visit a Post Office (step back in time to the 1950's) ever again.
Absolute crap.

Rasher,
Having had the same experience as you regarding work related documents, we now use DHL which up to now, has worked well and surprisingly not that expensive.
I,m sure The Post Office wasn't like that in Mick's day mind you.

The postal service sometimes leaves much to be desired (my main beef being the obligatory postcode, which is ignored by the final sort for delivery, so I get a lot of mail for a similar address in a nearby village - totally different postcode...).
But I have to do some cheer-leading for the gals who run our local post office counter, who are brilliant and tremendously helpful.
For example I had a letter that was dangerously close to 'large letter' on thickness. They taped down the flap tighter, and compressed the envelope to get rid of the air, so that would get through alright. And have also given advice on other items - to keep the price to customer down.
So mixed cheering/booing from this bit of Norfolk.

glad to see that it's not just the Portuguese Post that are wankers...

I don't get it, if you can't trust the post office to do your post why are you happy you can do your car tax on line. Then wait for it to be delivered?
Your argument makes little sense.
In my experience of the post office, those on the front line in post offices have always been helpful, chatty and professional. Obviously they cannot control what goes on up stream.
