Took delivery of Procupine Tree's Signify.
It sounds like a slightly more mature Savage Garden.
Jesus.
On a lighter note, the latest FSOL is awsome.

Now now Sir I do not go in for atomic kitten, although I do like All Saints!
In fairness I will give it another go, however with my current slant towards Blues I did find this album difficult.
Picked up Creams: Wheels of Fire, SRV: Soul to Soul, John Mayals: Blues from Larul Canyon, Hendrix: Electric Ladyland amongst others this weekend!
Thats where I am at, at the moment so I guess 90s prog rock kind of threw me, so I will check it again soon!
Got loads of Van the Man as well, also some mono blues stuff which is cool as well.
We got my step dads records out the loft (I sold him my rega). My god the state of them was out of this world. He had at least 8 hendrix albums of various iffy quality, zappa was all trashed as well.
Made my heart bleed!

I trust Hot Rats 'Willie the Pimp' was suitably worn out, otherwise I would suspect your Dad's hippy credentials.

And you could tell a differance!!!?
I recently got Disrelli Gears. What a dissapointment!. I have some other Cream bits and bobs that I think are great. There are obviously 4 great tracks but also 2 of the worst things ever put to vinyl.
I am also thinking of trying to get hold of some Procupine Tree, so I'll let you know what I think.
Nick - I'm still listenning to Sound from the Ground. This album ('Kin') is stonking for anyone that likes the laid back dub/dance gendre.

Alex, give me time it may suddenly make sence, it did with global communication.
Greeny, watch it. Cream are good, zappa is good.

Sorry Nick but all I was hearing was swirly sub standard guitar and synth and the ocasional lyric by someone that sounded like the guy from savage Garden.
Perhaps I got the wrong CD, but its hardly lifting Gilmour solos here.
Will try again this evening though I promise. Perhaps theres some subliminal message in there which hasn't got into my mind yet.

That's half the point garyi, its NOT obviously prog IMO...There is no real in your face, blatant excessiveness, I didnt think Signify was GREAT the first time I listened to it, but it grows on you.
It is spacey/ambient, and SW wants to get away from long extended guitar solos. Read the PT web site, SW is far more into other stuff (Neu/Can) than just Floyd and gilmour esque soloing. And so are the rest of the band.
It will grow on you for a man of your 'musical calibre'.. If you want more 'excitement' Coma Divine is better.
Sorry about the jumbled post, but enjoy!!
Cheers

Lightbulb Sun is not very good. Signify is not prog rock apart from one track.
Anyway, the new FSOL is rubbish. Big mistake trying to use some real instruments - even all the fashionable ones, actually, especially all the fashionable ones; and as for the vocals. . . I suppose the packaging is OK.
