HDX - CD drawer has a mind of its own

Posted by: busaganashi on 15 March 2009

I was wondering if anyone with an HDX had the following problem... The drawer will sometimes after opening to load a disk, close by itself. It also sometimes closes by itself while I am putting a disc on the tray.

I've rebooted it and that doesn't fix it. Any suggestions, fixes or do I have a faulty drive?

Bottom line is - You need to get it repaired.

There is a button on the front panel which, as you know, requests opening or closing of the CD drawer. However, if this button is stuck or intermittent it could cause the problem you describe.
Also there is a microswitch built into the CD drawer mechanism to detect when drawer closure is requested by the "manual" method, which is to 'push' the drawer inwards until it operates the microswitch, which then motors the drawer shut. If this microswitch or associated mechanism is badly set, maladjusted or broken, then the faulty behavior that you describe may result.
Out of the two possibilities, the latter is the most likely.
In either case, it would be best dealt with by your Naim dealer. Talk with them... they will be most helpful! Smile
