Keven Keegan back at Newcastle

Well who would of thought it the prodigal son returns to Newcastle - I don't follow football that closely (wrong shape ball) but this must be good news for the fan's - lets hope the management give him the time he needs - next move could be Allan Shearer as 2nd??

Another one who looks like he wants the bright lights of London. The shopping is not that bad in the 'Boro and grand in Newcastle but it's not London. Has he an aspiring WAG or am I being cynical. I guess tho that Tottenham in theory are a bigger club with better prospects particularly for Europe. Didn't he already play for Newcastle and not have a particularly happy time? Once bitten twice shy.
If it is the WAG shopping thing then us poor mites over the River don't stand a chance of attracting decent players. Maybe 'The Emotional One' at Sunderland was correct.................................................

Diccus,
Quality opposition indeed. Sounds like we did ok during the first half, but they were too good in the second. No great surprise really. Keegan may be the messiah, but it is hard to work miracles everyday.
Personally I would like to have seen Woodgate back, despite his medical history. We looked rock solid whenever he played for us. He went because Fat Freddie made a stack of money on him.
See you tonight, I will send you a text to tell you which bar we are in. We are out for lunch so we may already have had a few by the time you get there!
Regards
Nic

I'm no football expert but there is something incredibly naive about Newcastle appointing Keegan because he's a good lad and fun in a way that Sam wasn't.
I think the mission is doomed to failure from the off.
Firstly, the squad is inadequate to compete near the top of the league. That was so very apparent yesterday when they were lucky to get away with conceding only three against Arsenal.
Even if Keegan does manage to pull in new talent before the end of January, his biggest problem is going to grow bigger and bigger as time goes on. The problem is that Alan Shearer, has an even larger ego than Keegan and he will not rest until he has deposed Keegan and taken over the team himself. Irrespective of whether he has any management skills. Just watch as Shearer chip chip chips away at Keegan over the remainder of the season.
In my opinion, by fudging the Shearer issue (ie not firmly closing the door to him for the next couple of years) Newcastle have engineered Keegan's destruction.
Then again, I really do know nothing about football - just a hunch I have!!

Now Wise is set to leave Leeds to join the training staff. Whats that all about as he hasn't got a clue.
Good news for my team though

Mark,
I said it was going to be an interesting ride! It is far from clear what his role will be at this end. For up to date news and gossip, those who are interested can follow the excellent coverage at nufc.com
Now we will have to be nice to the man who was always teased mercilessly by the fans for being vertically challenged. Suppose we will also have to stop singing the "Joe le taxi" song.

Interestingly Keegan seemed to be either unaware (unlikely), unhappy (Usurped) by talk of the alleged appointment. He was telling Press to wait for Chris Mort to come back from a biz trip to comment. He didn't sound happy on the Radio.

I gave KK 2 years. I now revise this after today's comments to the end of the season.

Agreed. I think he should have done his homework on the nutters that own NCFC. I'd like to say I feel sorry for the fans - but as a Palace fan, I'd swap problems with them.

Diccus,
It is not like you to tease. We always expect to be gifted 6 points each season by Sunderland, when they are in the same division. You already owe us 2!
If you would like to go as my guest to the home game, just give me sufficient notice to arrange a ticket. Civilised area and drinks before and after. Leave the car at home.

You are very kind, I should be ok for that Sat as my oldest is with his mum that weekend. Sounds like a good idea, tho i've forgotten what the inside of a Football ground is like. Just let me know when you are ordering tickets and i'll confirm then if that is ok.
Me a wind up merchant, never.................. I just thought Keegan was a nightmare appointment and of course hate to be proved right

Unfortunately the toon seem to have become a bit of a national joke. No surprise really given some of the goings on recently. Never been the same since we lost Sir Bobby.
Give King KK time (and money) and he'll sort it out.
Although I remember saying the same about Allardyce so what do I know.....
Toon Toon!

Tonks
He'll have to or they will be an even bigger laughing stock. He's had an unenviable set of teams to play since his his return from Heaven. Even Sunderland would have struggled against that lot

Ha ha
You boys are starting to look like a team, much as that hurts to say
We've got a stupidly difficult run in. We should just about have enough, but desperate for confidence. Just need a scrambled 1-0 to get us started again..
Man U next. Ne bother....

Another Top 4 club gone Saturday and another trouncing. The points will have to start coming from somewhere and I bet Nic and the Tonkster are pleased that the run in looks in theory ok.
Last games are:-
Blackburn (home)draw?
Liverpool (away)fugetaboutit?
Birmingham (away)Need to win?
Fulham (Home)Should win?
Spurs (Away)fugetaboutit?
Reading (Home)Must win?
Portsmouth (away)Toughie, unlikely to get points?
Sunderland (Home) a draw is the likely outcome here?
West Ham (Away)Lucky to take a point?
Chelsea (Home)Oh dear?
Everton (Away)Lucky to get a point particularly if Everton are chasing a European place?
As I said an easy run in
I don't envy Keegan I must admit.
Now what do Sunderland need to do to stay up
What do you think chaps?
