Music Recommendations
Posted by: jasons on 10 March 2006
Now, as a new Naim owner i really need to sort out my cd's ie i need some new ones.
I know this post wont appeal to most, but does anyone have any recommendations of any electronic, downtempo chill out type cd's?
Curently into Kraftwerk, Tosca, Four Tet, Zero 7, etc.
Cheers!!!
Jason.

Although I haven't got much in that line (Shirley Collins and HMHB being my favourite artists), I do have a few Kraftwerk albums which I really like (especially Trans Europe Express),
I, also, kind of like this lot
Listen to samples on the Tangerine Dream web site - here
I'd thoroughly recommend Wallenstein too - particularly Cosmic Century.
Have you heard the Ozric Tentacles - I'd recommend The bits between the bits

Hi Jasons!
The 3 "type" of music are very different in content to me.
If you like pure electronic i'd suggest you some works by Fennesz
http://www.fennesz.com/
or a look into Raster-Noton catalogue
http://www.raster-noton.de/start.html
There's good works in April Records' catalogue.
I might suggest you Murcof's works which are, at my ears, some of the best things that came out lately.
The electronic world is very large in extent and contaminations.
If you want to listen to some samples get here:

A good place for your aims, i think!
Cheers
Gianluigi

Jason,
Get what you can from Redshift. Not easy as much is now sold out. Truly magnificent sequenced melodies. Halo is truly mindblowing with the lowest sequenced bass I have ever come across.
Ether is based on early Tangerine Dream.
Synth Music Direct
Is a superb site for electronica with tons of good samples.
For starters try Airsculpture as that I have found to be somewhat trance and laid back, but also exceptionally well produced. (TanceAtlantique).

You could give Air, Fragile States both a try. Both great albums and I'm sure you'd also like Groove Armada.

If you're a fan of Zero 7 you may be interested to know that they have a new album out on 15 May 2006 called "The Garden".
