I think a Nait is still a bargain at 200 or even 250 quid - its a great little amp!

Tony.

You have to draw the line somewhere, it may be great but its also ancient. Its the sort of thing you should be giving to a friend, or selling for 20 quid at a car booty

Weren't they £700 new? Sounds like a reasonable price, if so.

I'm with Tony that, based on performance, it could justify such a price. However, they normally don't, so you could buy the same thing cheaper elsewhere if you wait long enough.

cheers, Martin

...Well maybe not, actually.
In all seriousness I would have expected a Nait 1 to go for £125ish, and even then a proportion of the cost subsidises the folklore element.
Obviously some people just get paid too much! Still, at least the lucky(spawny?) seller can go and buy a better amp with his new found wealth!

This is nowhere as bad as the CDSPS that I clocked on EBay at £1190 with time to go!!!

This is crazy, an XPS can be had for little more than that (Audioworks have one at £1300 currently) and it is significantly better

I guess I'll have to use Ebay for my Mk1 Kans and NACA5 I'm about to advertise wink

I saw that one as well. I really wonder if some of these bidders actually bother researching the market before going nuts.

I picked up a Nait1 on ebay a month or so back for £100... absolute bargain in comparison big grin

Bosh, how long is that Naca5 of yours?

I know the Nait is old and fetching quite a decent price. But if you had 200 pounds for an integrated amp, which one will sound better than the Nait?

Eric, with a little patience, you should be able to pick yourself up a Nait 2 for this price.

I'd prefer an Audiolab 8000A, Linn Intek or even a Pioneer A400 to a Nait 1 personally, and all are available s/h for less than £200 (quite a bit less in the A400s case!)

I have compared a Nait 2 to an 8000A, and preferred the 8000A, albeit using Epos ES11s and Linn SARAs, the latter probably were too much for the Nait...but isn't that part of the problem, an amplifier to me has to do more than work well into a carefully chosen speaker. It needs to be capable of driving the majority of speakers, handling enough inputs(with industry standard connectors?) etc etc.
As a point of interest, the amps I compared on that occasion were: 8000A, A400, Intek, Nait2, 42/110, Myryad MI120, Incatech claymore, Sugden A48II and Linn LK1/2.
